Classroom Ideas for Halloween Goody Bags & Boxes
Halloween is a time when students get excited about collecting candy. Use this excitement to create Halloween goody bags and boxes. Decorate them with Halloween themes, such as ghosts, witches and pumpkins. Once they are finished, you can fill them with candy yourself, or let the students take them home to use as a trick or treat bag.

Pumpkin Bag
-
Start with an orange craft bag and let students make a jack-o-lantern face by cutting shapes from black paper and gluing them on the bag. This is an ideal craft for younger students. Challenge them to make a scary or silly face through the eyes and mouth.
Haunted House Box
-
Purchase medium-sized craft boxes. Students can decorate the outside to look like a haunted house by painting it gray and adding windows with ghosts peeking out.

Ghost Bag
-
Use an old, white pillowcase to act as a ghost. One way to do this is to have students glue black felt eyes and a mouth onto the pillowcase so the whole pillowcase looks like a ghost. You can also use markers to draw the outline of a ghost, filling in the background with a different color, as suggested by Crayola.
Witch Bag
-
Add a handle to a paper bag and use paper pieces to create a witch with a green face, long nose and black pointy hat. Accordion-fold long strips of paper to act as the arms and leg and place these so that they dangle off the bag.
Frankenstein Box
-
Cut an old cereal box so that it has handles by cutting down the sides of the box and cutting out rectangles on the front and back. Cover the box with green paper and add eyes, nose, mouth and hair to create a Frankenstein monster.
Fabric Bag
-
Older students might enjoy learning to sew a simple bag. Purchase a Halloween novelty fabric at your local fabric store and cut it into small rectangles. Students must match up the rectangles and sew along three sides. Cut small slits along the top and weave an orange ribbon through to close and carry the bag.
