Brisbane, Australia Blues & Jazz Clubs
Serving as Queensland's capital and hub of commerce and culture, Brisbane is home to an eclectic and diverse music scene. Perched on Australia's eastern shores at the mouth of the Brisbane River, the largest city in the state of Queensland offers a variety of venues for home-grown and touring musicians to try their musical chops. That's good news for Brisbane residents and visitors in search of blues and jazz.

Brisbane Jazz Club
-
Located in a small, unassuming white building on Kangaroo Point, the Brisbane Jazz Club serves as both meeting hall and performance venue for the city's oldest jazz club. One of the few jazz clubs anywhere to feature a dedicated premise, the clubhouse has been a Brisbane icon since the club's formation in 1972. Formed to promote awareness and participation in jazz, members have hosted local and touring performers; patrons at the cozy venue on the shores of the Brisbane River revel in all styles of jazz. Shows at the Brisbane Jazz Club are just as likely to feature Afro-Cuban beats as they are swing and big band. Visitors can travel to and from the club by ferry to add to the experience. Noise ordinances end performances early enough in the evening for patrons to catch the last ferry back across the river.

The Bowery
-
Located in Brisbane's Fortitude Valley district, The Bowery offers a steady diet of jazz combos and performances during the week before switching to house DJ's on the weekends. Winner of numerous industry awards, The Bowery offers a four-volume menu of cocktail selections. Citrus juices are pressed daily to ensure maximum freshness for flavoring your drink. Named after the New York City street that was famous for numerous speakeasies during prohibition, The Bowery presents a classic and sophisticated image. The bar takes its music and cocktails very seriously, but still leaves room for fun. Visitors that can't decide on a drink from the bar's voluminous offering can always try to stump the bartender with a concoction of their own.
