The Fox Theater offers many performances throughout November and December of "The Nutcracker," a ballet based on the book "The Nutcracker and the Mouse King" by E.T.A. Hoffman, with music composed by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky. The story is about a young girl who dreams of a prince, while her dolls come alive and battle with the king.

      The annual Children's Christmas Parade occurs in downtown Atlanta with the route beginning at Peachtree Street and ending on Centennial Olympic Park Drive. The parade is a charity event with proceeds benefiting Children's Healthcare of Atlanta. According to the Atlanta Festival Guide, the Christmas parade includes marching bands, holiday floats, large helium balloons and Santa Claus. Over 300,000 people attend the parade every year.

The park boasts the city's only outdoor ice rink, open during the Christmas holiday season from the end of November to the end of January. The rink offers festive lighting, holiday music and seating. If you'd rather not ice skate, walk through the park and behold the traditional 21 acres of Christmas lighting displays. The park is family-friendly and free, though there is an admission cost for the ice rink.
