At colleges for the deaf, sign language is a popular form of communication.

With appropriate accommodations, a deaf student can attend almost any college these days. However, there are a handful of colleges and universities around the world that cater specifically to students who are deaf or hard of hearing, helping them develop their own unique culture and self-respect as well as their intellectual capabilities and their college-level knowledge.
