Fun Printout Activities for Kids
The home computer can provide hours of entertainment for your children without the youngsters ever touching a keyboard or going online. Of course, you will need to go online for them, and your computer must have a printer. Once online, you will find countless sites offering free printout activities, providing hours of entertainment.

Doll Furniture
-
Imagine using your computer's printer to make actual toys. That is exactly what you can do at many of the websites that offer free dollhouse furniture printables. The printouts are more than furniture patterns. Print out a sheet and let the child cut, fold and tape furniture into place. The result: three-dimensional doll furniture. Use heavy paper for sturdier results. While some of the projects might be too elaborate for young children, there are many from which to choose.
Paper Dolls
-
"McCall's" was a well-known woman's magazine in the 1900s. It regularly included paper doll pages, featuring Betsy McCall. Today, you can find free paper doll pages online, including vintage pages of Betsy McCall. The activity is not just confined to girls as some sites offer printable paper dolls designed specifically for little boys. While the sites offer paper dolls in addition to paper doll clothes and accessories, the youngsters can take the project a step farther and design their own paper doll clothes, using blank tracing paper.

Games

If the youngster enjoys playing games, there are a variety of websites that offer free game printouts. Numerous sites offer word searches where you generate your own game and then print out the results. For example, if you want a word search using the name of the presidents or states, create a custom, printable sheet in minutes. Game sheets are not confined to word search. Look for math games, bingo games to customize and sheets for tick-tack-toe, hangman, mazes, crosswords, connect the dots, word scrambles and other printable game sheets.
Coloring and Crafts
-
There is no reason to buy coloring books as there is an endless selection of free printable coloring pages available online. Not only is it a great resource for teachers and parents, it is a quick way to print out an activity for a visiting niece, nephew or grandchild. Yet, the selection is not limited to coloring pages. There are also free printable craft pages, providing an endless supply of fun activities. After printing out the page, the child typically colors the sheet, cuts out the project and then glues or tapes it into place, creating anything from a paper whale to a windmill. Other online printable craft projects include origami printouts and paper airplanes.
