Learn about the Bible through crafts.

Visualize Biblical lessons through crafts and activities to make the lesson memorable and engaging. Bring the Holy Cross and more concepts and scenes from the Bible to life with interactive projects such as models and artistic renderings to accompany verbal discussions. Even children as young as preschoolers can participate in the imaginative and enlightening projects.

  1. Lamb of God

    • Make a "Lamb of God" craft to teach your child about how we are all in God's care and that He is our shepherd. Draw an outline of a lamb (use a stencil if you wish) onto sheets of black construction paper and cut them out. Place two adhesive craft eyes on the face of the sheep and use a silver or white crayon to draw a mouth for the sheep. Glue cotton balls over the entire body of the sheep to serve as wool.

    Foam Cross

    • Create a foam cross to remind the children about how Jesus died on the cross for our sins so that we can be forgiven. Draw the shape of a cross onto a sheet of craft foam and cut it out with scissors. Let the children decorate the cross with sticky jewels, glitter glue and markers. Have an adult print out a Bible verse such as John 3:16 and glue it to the center of the cross.

    Prayer Mat

    • Make a prayer mat with your child that she can place beside her bed for bedtime prayers. Purchase a tight-weave or berber door mat and spell out "My Prayer Mat" with letter stencils. Using permanent markers, let your child color the letters using her favorite hues. Add other shapes or images such as hearts and crosses to the mat in the same manner. Dip your child's hands in craft paint and press them onto the surface of the rug to personalize it.

    Window to God's Treasures

    • Draw and design a window, filled with the blessings that God has created in your life. There may not be enough room for everything, so include your favorites. Start with a large poster board and draw a four-paned window (like a plus sign) onto the poster board. Draw your favorites of the gifts God has given you into the squares on the window. Let the kids get creative and allow them to draw not only things, but also people, animals or places. For example, the kids can draw a heart to represent the love that God has for them and the love they share with others. They can also draw the scene of their favorite place in one of the squares with family and friends gathered there. Encourage the kids to thank God for their blessings whether it's their favorite pet, animal or person. When the project is completed, the kids can hang the window on their wall so they can look at all of their favorite blessings and treasures from God, anytime they want to.
