They consist of so much more than selling cookie dough or candles. The following ideas represent just the tip of the iceberg and can be used as a starting point when planning any school sponsored fundraiser.

With the continued popularity of the hit reality show "American Idol," a karaoke-related fundraiser typically generates a lot of interest. All that is required to host the event is a portable karaoke system with song library, the school gymnasium and a room full of willing singers. Consider providing refreshments and displaying several donation jars, as well. Doing so will generate even more money for the trip.
Karaoke equipment rentals are readily available. A package that includes the CD player, a monitor, speakers and music library is perfect for the occasion. When choosing a rental company, don't be afraid to ask for a discount. Some companies might even be willing to donate the equipment for the evening. Ask the local radio station to advertise the event. Selling advance tickets is also recommended.

The more traffic that passes by, the better the chances of having a successful car wash. Make colorful signs and play music to attract attention. Earn extra money by offering to vacuum car interiors or wash inside windows.
Have volunteers work in short shifts and provide plenty of beverages. You can also sell snacks to customers. This will generate more profit.
