Discount Advertising Ideas
Advertising is the lifeblood of any business. Regardless of size or location, without advertising it's almost impossible to bring in new business and sales. Sometimes advertising is needed just to maintain a specific level of sales and keep a business from declining.
When a business is new, or times are tight, finding the funds to advertise can be challenging. Discount advertising methods are one way to keep everything afloat.
Some discount advertising can be found with local radio and television stations. Call around and check the local rates. In addition to these discount advertising methods, there are several others commonly used by small start-up businesses.

Flyers
-
If you sell products and services locally, passing out flyers is one inexpensive way to advertise. Many small business owners design and print the flyers themselves using their home computer and printer, then they pass them out at a local store by hand or place them on the windshields of vehicles parked in a mall parking lot.
Distributing flyers is an untargeted method of advertising, but it is quite inexpensive and easy to do. It also works well for products and services that have very widespread appeal, such as pizza sales or lawn care services.
Bulletin Boards
-
You'll find bulletin boards at car repair shops, laundromats and local grocery stores. Put up a flyer with tear-off phone numbers, or tack your business card to the board so interested sales prospects can take it with them.
This type of advertising involves almost no cost, particularly when you design and print your own ads then distribute them personally. Posting ads on bulletin boards is usually free, so the more you find the more ads you can place. It's also possible to target the advertising. If you're advertising a babysitting service, ads on bulletin boards at grocery stores or laundromats are likely to reach young mothers. If you're offering a resume writing service, you can post the ads on bulletin boards around a college campus.

Free Online Sites
-
Some products and services are easy to advertise on the Internet. Even if you need to advertise locally, there are websites which allow you to create free classified ads for your local area.
Also consider using community gathering places online and listing your business in local online directories.
If your advertisements aren't targeted to a local audience, you might also try the worldwide classified sites online, or use an inexpensive pay-per-click advertising system such as Google AdWords.
