The benefits of garlic are many, and aged garlic is no exception. Aged garlic is used to make AGE (aged garlic extract), a popular herbal supplement that has been proven to boost the immune system and possibly prevent cancer and cardiovascular disease. Additionally, as garlic ages it loses its strong flavor, so there's no need to worry about breath odor.

Make Aged Garlic Yourself

Slice all the garlic into thin slivers.

Put garlic into container.

Cover garlic with water or ethanol.

Seal container tightly.

Store garlic in at room temperature for at least twenty months.

Strain and dry garlic when soaking is finished.

Tips

  • These steps will allow you to make aged garlic, but the supplements sold in stores are actually powder forms of the garlic, usually placed in capsules. For best results (and less waiting time), you may just want to purchase an aged garlic extract supplement. Kyolic is an excellent choice, and is available online or in most health food stores.
