Certain truck driving companies require their drivers to have experience. However, there are plenty of companies out there that offer paid training. It works two ways: either a company has its own CDL (Commercial Driver's License) program for new drivers on site, or the company reimburses your tuition from an outside school. If you get hired by the right company, there is no need to worry about how much your training will cost. CR England, U.S. Xpress, and Prime Inc. have various tuition reimbursement opportunities.
C. R. England
C. R. England is a truck driving company that hires drivers without experience. Those who wish to apply to this company can do so on its website. Once C. R. England makes the decision to hire, the company will send you to one of its three schools located in Mira Loma, California; Salt Lake City, Utah; and Burns Harbor, Indiana.
You will have the best chance of acceptance if you have a clean driving record for the last 3 years. Medical conditions such as issues with the heart, diabetes, and blood pressure are scrutinized closely. If any of these red flags pops up, you still may have a chance, but it's best to remain realistic in your hiring expectations.

U.S. Xpress, located in Chattanooga, Tennessee, offers tuition assistant to new drivers. Interested applicants who do not have a CDL need to attend an approved truck driving school. Education is available at most community colleges. Company recruiters are knowledgeable in which schools are accepted by U.S.
Those interested in solo driving must live in states east of the Mississippi River. Team drivers are eligible for hire from all states in the U.S. except Alaska and Hawaii. Once hired, drivers go through a period of training with an experienced driver. When finished, new drivers are given a company truck from which they will make their deliveries. U.S. Express is a company that runs through many states. Drivers are away from home for extended periods of time.

Prime Inc. has a few different opportunities for drivers. New hires, who have already been through a truck driving school, receive tuition reimbursement after several months on the road. The rule of thumb is that most companies match tuition payments after a driver has been on the road six months to a year.
If you are interested in pursuing a career as a driver with Prime, you can attend school through the company after passing your physical. Those going through Prime's CDL school start by training at the company's home terminal in Springfield, Missouri. Once through school, you'll drive with a trainer for up to six months, depending on the program you are taking. Prime has opportunities for company drivers and lease operators. Drivers participating in the lease program are out the longest with a trainer. The company needs the assurance that you know how to handle the financial aspects of leasing along with being a successful driver.
