While Reno is often forced to play second fiddle to Las Vegas, the city offers an array of interesting things to see and explore. Pneumatic Diner

Pneumatic Diner is one of Reno's few all-vegetarian eating establishments, with a variety of meatless goodies available, such as homemade hummus, homemade salsas, falafel sandwiches and numerous baked goods, such as cupcakes and cookies--most of which are also suitable for vegans. Most main courses are priced at below the $9 range (as of 2010). The restaurant's Sunday morning brunch is so popular that you might have to wait for a table. The atmosphere is incredibly laid-back, with a young, hip wait staff. The Pneumatic Diner is open for lunch and dinner seven days a week, and opens its doors early for breakfast on the weekends.

Freeman's Natural Hot Dogs

This popular Reno fast food joint offers a vegetarian version of its namesake specialty. In addition, two vegan dogs are available in Italian sausage and chipotle sausage flavors. The "Bun Burner" special comes with a vegan chipotle sausage hot dog, chipotle lime aioli and salsa served on your choice of bun: onion poppy seed, sourdough wheat or sprouted wheat. Choose between such toppings as onions, relish, jalapenos, tomatoes, raw mustard, sauerkraut, pineapple chutney, organic salsa, guacamole, vegan chili, raw probiotic, lemon tahini dressing, blue cheese dressing, chipotle lime aioli, rice cheese and cheddar cheese. Other meat-free menu items include the spicy Asian cole slaw, Freeman's nachos, vegan chili and a mixed green salad.

Dandelion Cafe

The Dandelion Café offers a variety of sandwiches, salads and entrees suitable for vegetarians, as well as a smattering of meals for vegan diners. For breakfast, you can enjoy a variety of fresh garden veggie omelets, or go for some of the freshly baked breads and pastries. The Dandelion Cafe opens its doors for breakfast and lunch every day of the week except Sunday.
