List of Wedding Supplies

Save

After setting the date for their special day, most couples end up with a long checklist of items they'll need to make the day memorable. Some of the wedding supplies needed for the special day include wedding favors, stationery, a wedding cake topper and ceremony and reception accessories. The pages of almost any wedding guide feature advertisements for companies who specialize in these accessories.

Favors

  • Although most people think of the traditional tulle-wrapped Jordan almonds with the mention on the phrase "wedding favor," couples can select from several nontraditional items. They can show their appreciation to guests by giving decorative wine bottle stoppers, personalized champagne flutes, scented bath soaps, or crystal mementos. Some couples take the time to build a play list of their favorite songs and burn CDs for their guests' enjoyment long after the wedding day. They may choose to offer edible favors, such as candy bars with personalized wrappers, cookies frosted with their monogram or cupcakes packed in fancy boxes.

Stationery

  • Wedding stationery may constitute one of the most necessary wedding supplies. Before the wedding day, save-the-dates and paper invitations announce the event. Other wedding stationery includes programs and thank you notes. Brides and grooms with creative skills sometimes choose to design and print these items on their own, either to save money or to add a special personal touch. Craft and party supply stores offer affordable do-it-yourself kits. A traditionalist who spares no expense may choose professionally engraved stationery on fine paper.

Cake Toppers

  • Wedding cake toppers have come a long way from the generic plastic figurines of a bride and groom. Some couples going for a modern look may like to have an embellished monogram topper. Artists can work closely with a couple to design a custom cake topper that looks and dresses like them and reflects their personal interests. Some of the more common choices to grace the top of a wedding cake include crystal, porcelain, or floral figurines. Whatever the choice, the cake topper should complement the cake's design and size.

Ceremony Accessories

  • If a flower girl and ring bearer will participate in the wedding, they will need accessories. The flower girl will need a basket that will complement her dress. It can carry either real or silk flower petals. A ring bearer pillow, although carried by a young boy, will be either white or a color that matches the female attendants' dresses. Some couples include candle lighting as part of the wedding ceremony and will need a set of three called the unity candles. A guest book and pen should be purchased so that guests can sign in. This can be used by the couple as a wedding memento and may be helpful when writing thank you notes.

Reception Accessories

  • When well chosen, candles, flowers, table centerpieces, cake cutters and servers can make an impressive statement at the wedding reception. Event suppliers offer vases, lanterns, table linens, china service, stem ware and cake stands to purchase or rent for use at a wedding reception. Some suppliers offer the services of a consultant who can insure that a bride and groom consider every need.
