Angeles City in the province of Pampanga, Philippines has an increased Korean presence over the last few years. A part of it called the Friendship Highway is now known as the Korea Town. Most of the Korean establishments here are co-owned by expatriates from South Korea and their Filipino colleagues (since only Filipinos are allowed to legally own properties and businesses in the Philippines).

As it is aptly located near villages with many Korean residents, this restaurant is usually packed with Korean diners seeking their local favorites. Kiwon offers popular Korean dishes including bok jiri (a stew of blowfish, bean sprouts and bitter greens) and chajangmyun (black bean paste and vegetable noodles). It also serves a number of Korean soups, kimchi side dishes and kimbap (steamed rice, vegetables and optional meat rolled in dried seaweed and served in bite-size slices similar to the Japanese maki.)

Hyun Jeong Korean Restaurant

  • Hyun Jeong Korean restaurant features a variety of refillable side dishes consisting of the different kinds of kimchi, sautéed vegetables, salad and fish cake for free in every meal order. It brings the Korean style of dining with the many appetizers coming in before the actual meal. For more than 15 years, it has been a prime dining spot for golfers, students, businessmen and tourists in the Angeles City area. Prices are relatively low for a foreign-style restaurant bringing good food to diners. Hyun Jeong specialties include kimchi varieties, ramyeon (Korean noodles), samgyupsal (pork barbecue) and dolsot bibimbap (mixed rice and vegetables with egg, spicy red paste and optional meat.)
