Educational Preschool Arts & Crafts Ideas for Spring

Spring is a good topic for preschoolers.

Developing spring-related craft projects for preschoolers doesn't have to be difficult. Begin by creating a list of spring-related concepts, such as spring flowers, the outdoors, a play about animals or spring cleaning. You will need to buy an array of craft materials, either in bulk online or at craft stores or big discount stores.

Painting a Springtime Portrait

An art project that involves painting spring scenes can be a fun project for younger children. You will need to buy or make aprons for each child. You can use canvases or let the children paint on poster paper or fabric. A fun idea is to lay a out large sheet of material either inside or outside for the children to create their own spring scene. Cloth is a great choice, but you can also buy large rolls of paper. Set up each child with brushes, paint, water and a place to mix the paint. Let the children follow their own creative impulses or offer a specific subject for them to follow. One idea might be baby animals that can be found in the forest in spring.

Spring Flowers

Let the children create spring flowers with craft paper. You may want to bring in a book that shows flowers that bloom in spring. Encourage the children to use their imagination as they create their flowers, even if they don't look like the real thing. They may want to glue glitter or other materials to the flower or color them with paint, crayons or markers. You will want to help with cutting the flowers out. Tie ribbons around their flowers so the children can use them as a Mother's Day gift.

A Spring Play

Develop a play that the children can put on for their parents and families. This can be a craft project, too. The children can help create the set, costumes and other decorative elements of the play before their performance.
