Ideas for a Kids' Tiki Lemonade Stand
Teaching children the importance of a good work ethic and introducing them to the idea of entrepreneurship at an early age, helps them learn how businesses work to benefit households and society overall. Many kids get their first entrepreneurial experience by operating lemonade stands in their neighborhoods during the summer months. Helping your child incorporate a tiki theme into his or her stand can make the stand more marketable to consumers.
-
Location
-
Kids' lemonade stands do well in areas that have high foot traffic, but are away from the traffic of the streets--locations like churches, flea markets, residential communities, or on the front lawn. The more accessible and visible, the better chance your child will have in making sales over the summer.
Supplies
-
Lemons, sugar, water, pitchers, cups, ice, stirring spoons, straws, and other supplies are needed to start your child's lemonade stand. Let the child help make a list of things he needs to make his stand a success. Take him shopping to select the items. tiki-themed supplies can be purchased at superstores, party supply stores, and arts and crafts stores.

Decoration
-
A banner, created by your child, featuring the name of her tiki lemonade stand with a drawing of a tiki on it will draw attention if it's placed over the stand. Use a large inflatable tiki near the lemonade stand to serve as extra decoration and way to get people's attention as they walk or drive by the stand.
Activities
-
Give lemonade stand visitors tiki-inspired coloring pages to decorate while they wait for their lemonade. Completed coloring pages can be used to help decorate the stand. Play exotic or Polynesian music by popular artists like Arthur Lyman and Yma Sumac while the stand is open.
Customer Incentives
-
For each cup of lemonade served, your child can include a parasol straw adorned with a tropical-inspired design.
Marketing
-
Tiki-shaped flyers can display details about your child's lemonade stand, including the location and the menu. Distribute the flyers at church, to local businesses, and on neighborhood bulletin boards. Place a wooden or plastic tiki stick in front of your home and attach a flyer to it, for added promotion.
Menu
-
Your child's tiki lemonade stand can offer pink lemonade and regular lemonade, as well as tropical-inspired custom flavors like pineapple lemonade, coconut lemonade, and mango lemonade. Customers will enjoy the option of crushed, shaved, or cubed ice for their refreshing beverage.
