You can welcome a new employee or help a co-worker celebrate a promotion by giving an office warming gift. If you are looking for an appropriate office warming gift, you might consider something that will help the person in the new job, or a gift that will decorate his office or cubicle, or a gift that will just make him feel comfortable in his new office.
Most people usually welcome a clock as an office warming gift. If the recipient of the gift will have a fairly large office, consider a wall clock. If she will occupy a smaller place, consider gifting her with a desk clock. Some of the fancier versions include a world clock that may be helpful for someone who communicates with co-workers or clients in different time zones. A picture frame is a versatile gift for a man or woman of any age or position. It allows the person to display a favorite photograph of her family during the long hours at work. A plant will warm his office space and make it feel more comfortable. Avoid plants that need a lot of light and care. A peace lily grows in almost any light, and requires minimum care. If you know the taste of the recipient, a piece of artwork for the office could make her workplace feel cozier.
Consider sending a corporate gift basket. You may make one yourself, or you can find gift basket companies that offer a variety of different baskets. A basket that contains an assortment of gourmet gifts will come in handy to cure a case of the office munchies on a late night at work. Some baskets include smoked salmon, cheeses, crackers, nuts, cookies and other snacks. A coffee lover may appreciate a gift basket with a selection of flavored coffees with a coffee mug tucked in the package. Why not offer a candy jar filled with your coworkers favorite treats. He will enjoy eating the candy and offering to others, and he can refill it with whatever he desires once it is empty. For someone with an office environment that permits, a decanter along with an aged whiskey or scotch makes and elegant gift option.
Office supplies make a practical gift option. Consider a mouse pad, nameplate, desk pen, business card holder, letter opener, paperweight or leather portfolio. Many of these options may be personalized in a gift shop. The professional who does a lot of traveling might appreciate a new laptop bag that can transport his necessities on business trips.
