Religious Crafts for Kids
Religion teachers and volunteers who work with kids know that craft activities are a good way to extend a particular lesson or theme during religious instruction. Parents may also wish to make religious crafts with their children from time to time. Kids will enjoy having the chance to complete a hands-on activity, and can also used the finished project as a keepsake or gift.

Stained Glass Art
-
To make their stained glass art, children begin by gluing 1-inch squares of colored tissue paper to a large piece of blue construction paper. They can design images such as crosses or praying hands, or apply the tissue in a random fashion. After placing a piece of wax paper over the tissue design, glue a "window frame" cut from a piece of white construction paper. This stained glass window craft makes good refrigerator art and reminds children of their visit to church.
Fuzzy Sheep
-
Children enjoy using glue and cotton balls, so they'll have fun making this fuzzy sheep craft that reminds them that Jesus is the "Great Shepherd" and his followers are his sheep. For this project, give the children a sheep template made from black or brown construction paper or card stock. They can glue on the cotton balls to make the sheep fluffy and use crayons to give the sheep a smile. Younger children may require assistance gluing on googly eyes.

Praying Hands
-
To make the praying hands craft, trace the child's hands on construction paper, making sure the fingers are closed and the hands are close together. After cutting out the praying hands, the children can write words and phrases on them, describing what they are thankful for or any special prayer requests.
Ten Commandments
-
The Ten Commandments craft is made by creating two tablets that look like they are carved from stone, each with a list of five commandments. Magnets attached to the back make it easy to hang for refrigerator art. Alternatively, attach some yarn to the "tablets" so kids can hang them from a doorknob in their home. The Ten Commandments craft is suitable for kids of all ages.
