Dallas Nursing Institute

The Dallas Nursing Institute (DNI) offers a Licensed Vocational Nursing (LVN) program as well as an Associate Degree in Nursing. All courses at DNI are state approved and accredited by the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools, Texas Workforce Commission and the Board of Nurse Examiners. The LVN program prepares students to care for patients under the supervision of a registered nurse or physician. You will learn medical terminology, as well as body growth and development. The day program lasts for 13 months, while the night program lasts for 17 months. If you decide to obtain an Associate of Applied Science degree in nursing, you will be required to complete a total of 69 credits.

Baylor University--Louise Herrington School of Nursing

Baylor University's School of Nursing is accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education and offers a Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degree in nursing. The undergraduate program states that the 66 prerequisite hours can be taken at either the Waco campus of Baylor University or any other university or college. Students must be full-time at the Dallas campus and can complete the entire program in four years. The graduate program gives you the options of majoring as a Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP), Nurse Midwifery (CNM) or Advanced Neonatal Nursing (NNP).

Texas Woman's University--College of Nursing

Texas Woman's University College of Nursing is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools, and offers six nursing programs at the Dallas campus. The Bachelor of Science (BS) degree for basic nursing education is a four-year program. The BS program for diploma nurses, which is completely online, can be completed in one year, if full time, or two years, if part time. A Master of Science (MS) program, which is for diploma nurses seeking a BS degree with a fast track into the MS program, can be completed with an additional 18 months of study on campus. MS programs are available for Clinical Nurse Specialist, Nursing Education and Nurse Practitioner. Post-MS certificate programs are available for Nursing Education and Nurse Practitioner, and for certified Nurse Practitioners and Nurse Midwives. A Doctor of Nursing Practice degree is also available.
