Fishing Reel Repair Technician Training and Certification

Fishing reel repair training and certification can aid in career advancement while increasing moneymaking options. Training can be accomplished both online and in the classroom. Portions of the training will also include hands-on components, and a final examination evaluation of skills. Adults age 18 and older can register for the training and file for certification.

Certification and Training Courses

A certified rod and reel technician offers a higher level or professionalism and expertise to the field. Only entry-level positions offer jobs for adults who do not already possess such training. New hires by major companies and many smaller ones as well, require trained and certified technician courses to be taken upon hire. The cost of the courses is typically less than $500, and last less than 1 week. Continuing education courses in rod and reel repair also often required by employers.

American Boat and Yacht Council Training and Services

The American Boat and Yacht Council offers many courses. Formal classroom training and self-guided correspondence courses are available. Typically, a trainee is expected to have at least 3 years of on-the-job experience. Students can attend preliminary courses at local vocational learning centers. New fishing reel repair technicians can also work as apprentices under a certified repair staff member to acquire the basic experience requirements.

Eight areas of marina-related technician training are offered for adult learners. All courses meet or exceed the American Boat and Yacht Certification standards.
