Preschoolers can make loving Mother's Day gifts in Sunday school.

When children learn about the Bible, they often make crafts based on the Bible story they are learning. Holidays such as Mother's Day help the children focus on specific topics. Preschoolers know that moms are special, and Mother's Day presents a perfect opportunity for teachers to help preschoolers make gifts that link to specific Bible lessons.

On Mother's Day, preschool children can learn the lesson of creation. As they discuss special things that God created, a teacher can point out how special mommies are, and how special children are to mommies. Follow this lesson with a "footprint" craft. Trace both feet on construction paper, separately, for each child, and cut the feet out. Staple or tape the feet together with outer edge of the feet in the middle, and the big toes facing out. This makes a beautiful butterfly to give to special mommies. The children can decorate their butterflies with crayons, markers and stickers.

As your preschool class learns about the Bible, talk about how much God loves little children. Incorporate a mother's love into this lesson also. Use a nontoxic ink pad to make a special flower gift from the children to their moms. Have them placed their thumb on the ink pad, then onto a piece of paper, leaving a colored imprint. Use the bright thumbprints to make flower designs on the paper and use crayon or marker to color around the flowers.

Make mom happy with a pretty, Bible preschool craft.

Talk to your preschool class about special mothers in the Bible. You can tell the story of baby Moses, whose mother gave him up so that he would live. You could also talk about Mary, the mother of Jesus. Follow this lesson with a craft that children can make for their mothers for Mother's Day. Make a simple bookmark with a Bible verse or special saying on it. For example, you could write "Jesus loves you, Mommy, and so do I." You could also use a verse such as First Thessalonians 2:7, which discusses being gentle like a mother caring for a child. The teacher can print the words on a bookmark made out of card stock. Punch holes around the outside of the bookmark, and let the children weave yarn through the holes, as if they are sewing, to decorate the bookmark.
