The Gateway to the West is home to several fine restaurants.

St. Louis, Missouri is home to many attractions, including the St. Louis Arch, St. Louis Zoo, Art Museum and the St. Louis Cardinals baseball team. The city is also home to many fine restaurants. Each year, the Forbes Travel Guide (formerly called the Mobil Travel Guide) lists its recommendations for the best accommodations in major U.S. cities, based on objective research and rigorous criteria. Ratings range from one star to five stars, but getting a rating in the first place can be quite difficult. In 2010, 39 St. Louis restaurants made the list, ranging from one star to four stars.

Tony's Restaurant is well-known as one of St. Louis' finest restaurants. Forbes rated it a four-star restaurant in 2010, and Tony's has also received awards from AAA, Conde Nast Traveler and Nation's Restaurant News. The interior is low-key with a subdued and subtle tone, emanating what Forbes describes as a "urban, postmodern style."

Tony's menu includes a wide array of gourmet Italian dishes, in the traditional categories of antipasti, primi piatti, insalata and second piatti. The Chef's Tasting Menu for Two is recommended by Forbes for those with larger appetites. Dishes include caviar, scallops, snails and duck liver pate for antipasti; canelloni, ziti amatriciana and raviolis for primi piatti; baby asparagus and Belgian endive or Tony's salad for insalata, and swordfish, rack of lamb, filet mignon, stuffed quail and lobster for second piatti. For the best Tony's experience, order all four courses.
