Irish Christian Gifts

The gift that you give for an Irish confirmation represents your support for the individual's commitment to the church and Christ. The gift should have a spiritual element and serve as a small token of the Irish culture. An item that symbolizes the commitment the person has made or help him grow in his faith makes an excellent gift.

  1. Cross and Shamrock

    • A cross with a shamrock is a symbolic Irish confirmation gift. The cross represents the person's commitment to Christ while the shamrock is a reminder of her Irish roots. The cross can hang on a wall or stand on a desk. Engrave the cross with the person's name and date of confirmation as an added reminder of the confirmation. You can also engrave the person's name in Irish on the cross and include the meaning of the name written in English.

    Irish Prayers

    • Give a book of Christian Irish prayers or a plaque with a famous Irish prayer. The prayers can be written in Irish but should come with a translation so the person can understand and make the prayer personal. Alternatively, write your own prayer and have someone translate it into Irish using Irish symbols to decorate the prayer.

    Celtic Tie

    • If the individual who is taking confirmation is a male, a Celtic tie makes a great gift. You may want to give it to him before the ceremony so he can wear it during the confirmation. The tie can be printed with any Celtic symbols but the most appropriate for a confirmation gift would be a Celtic cross pattern.

    Celtic Bracelets

    • Irish Celtic bracelets are easily personalized with the person's name and words the represent her life in the church. A Celtic bracelet is made up of various small beads. One bead might have a shamrock, another might have the person's name and another might read, "proud to be Irish." Most Celtic bracelets are bound together with a leather string.

    Irish Devotionals

    • Devotionals written by Irish saints or Irish Christians are an appropriate gift for an Irish confirmation because they provide the recipient with a practical tool to grow daily in his faith while learning about Irish culture. Irish devotionals are inspirational and educational. Write a note in the front of the devotional expressing to the recipient why you chose that particular book and include encouraging words about growing in God.
