      House of Pies

      • Truthfully, what do diners picture when they hear the words Bayou Goo? If they envision a mound of sweet whipped cream topped with chocolate shavings, a creamy vanilla custard filled with chunks of chocolate, followed by a layer of sweetened cream cheese on a tender, flaky pecan infused crust, they have sampled Bayou Goo Pie at the House of Pies. Open 24 hours every day, House of Pies serves more than 31 types of fruit, meringue and cream pies. The restaurant also makes several sugar-free pies and 12 flavors of cheesecake. Tasty sandwiches like the tuna and Swiss cheese melt served on freshly baked herb bread are another lure to the House of Pies. Diners can come for breakfast, lunch, or dinner and stay for dessert. This is a popular late night hang out for people from diverse cultures.

      Bernie's Burgers, Sports and Spirits

      • Some might think this is just another sports bar. Yes, Bernie's is known for its cheap beer, Tuesday night poker tournaments, fun atmosphere, friendly staff and karaoke. People may go for any of those reasons, but they will come back for delicious food such as the award-winning wings and burgers. Large, juicy wings come in various degrees of hot: Inferno, Elvis Hot, Caribbean Jerk, BBQ, Chipotle, Hot, Spicy Garlic, Mild and Honey BBQ. Bernie's is serious about burgers. South of the Border is a 1/3 lb., freshly cut, big and juicy, guacamole smothered burger. Guests should not leave without sampling Bernie's Bostadas, a house specialty. This is similar to a tostada but with an attitude.

      Perry's Steakhouse & Grille

      • Founded in 1979, Perry's popularity has grown steadily since first opening. There are eight locations in and around Houston. In the beginning, it was a single butcher shop and deli. Perry's became a full scale restaurant in 1986. Marketing the best cuts of prime beef is how the restaurant began, grew, and continues today. Perry's dry ages its beef 28 days. Perry's chefs have developed the recipes for such treats as Symphony Kabob and Filet Perry. The former is filet mignon, lobster and shrimp. The latter is a filet topped with a generous portion of lump crab meat and herb garlic butter. Both are served with steamed asparagus. Perry's has sprouted some other food businesses, such as an on-line meat market, burger restaurant and an Italian grill.
