A number of colleges in Canada offer drama programs.

A number of Canadian colleges and universities offer degree programs in drama and theater arts. With both undergraduate and graduate study opportunities, these schools combine classroom-based education with performance opportunities that help actors and actresses develop their skills. Drama students at Canadian colleges have the opportunity to receive a broad education in other aspects of the theater like design and technical management as well as in a number of liberal arts fields like literature and psychology.

      • Located in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Dalhousie is a public university with approximately 16,000 students. Among the programs 180 degree programs is the schools Bachelor of Arts in theater. The department's upper-level students for only drama students are small in size, typically with only five to 25 students, reports Dalhousie's website. Areas of specialization within the major include acting, costume Studies, music and theater, scenography and theater studies. Students who wish to specialize in acting complete an audition at the end of their first year to gain admittance into the program.

      Laval University

      • Located in Quebec City, Laval University is the oldest French language university in North America, reports the 2009 Barron's Profiles of American Colleges. The school has approximately 44,000 undergraduate and graduate students, 94 percent of which are from Quebec, according to Barron's. Students in the university's theater program have the option to focus on the relationship between acting and society, dramaturgy and directing, theater and visual arts and theatrical literature. The department offers the opportunity for studying abroad, and all of its courses are held entirely in French.

      Simon Fraser University

      • A public institution, Simon Fraser University is based in Burnaby, British Columbia. The school has more than 28,000 undergraduate and graduate students and grants both bachelor's and master's degrees in theater. Undergraduates can choose to specialize in performance, which requires coursework in acting, singing, play-writing, clowning, directing and theatrical literature. Another option is the design specialization, which features courses in lighting, set design and stage management. The majority of the college's theater classes are held in Vancouver at the Woodward's Complex professional theater.
