Unique Flowers in Bouquets

Unique Flowers in Bouquets thumbnail
White roses are common and traditional for bridal bouquets.

In recent trends, brides tend to choose less common flowers. While many brides still use roses, common flowers such as carnations and baby's breath are replaced with more unique flowers to fit the bride's personality and taste. Rose colors such as fuschia and peach are now chosen instead of the traditional white and light pink. Tropical flowers are becoming more and more popular, and a bride can choose from a wide variety to make her own bouquet unique and special.

  1. Orchids

With over 100 different types of orchids to choose from, a bride can find at least one to fit her color scheme. Orchids have a very tropical look, and will give a bridal bouquet an exotic touch. From cymbidium orchids to vanda orchids, apple green to white, orchids come in a variety of colors, shapes and sizes. Orchids are usually more expensive than other flowers, as many are difficult to transport from the farm to the florist. Silk or latex orchids look very real for those brides looking to use an artificial bouquet.

    Anemone

Anemones are part of the poppy family.

Anemones are large flowers with centers that are darker than their petals. Usually attached to long stems, anemones add bursts of unexpected color to a bridal bouquet. Anemones come in deep colors, such as blue, red and purple. White anemones have a bright yellow center, and are also rarely used in bridal bouquets. These flowers are quite durable and will not wilt easily. The centers create a beautiful contrast to the petals of the flower, and can make quite a statement based on the color scheme of the wedding.

    Lilies

      Lilies are very large flowers.

Like orchids, many different types of flowers exist in the lily family. Since these flowers are so large, either the bouquet is comprised completely of one type of lily or only one lily is used as an accent flower. For example, a bouquet of calla lilies is a unique choice for a bride. If a bride would like to use a lily to commemorate a family member that has passed, a stargazer lily is a great choice, especially if the color scheme has pink or complementary color to pink. Tiger lilies are quite unique, and are excellent for a fall wedding because of their orange color.
