Potato Costume Ideas
The potato has long been one of America's favorite vegetables. Turn one of your family member's love of the spud into a creative and inexpensive Halloween costume. There are several ways to use the potato theme to make a very memorable costume this October 31.

Hot Baked Potato
-
Anyone who has ever ordered a baked potato from a restaurant has enjoyed a piping hot spud wrapped in aluminum foil. Make yourself, your spouse or your child into a hot baked potato by wrapping the individual in a brown bed sheet and cutting two holes in the sides to make room for the arms. Stuff a few small pillows or rolled up socks into the space between the body and the sheet to make it a little larger and rounder. Glue a few pieces of aluminum foil or any other shiny material onto the sheet. Place a brown stocking hat onto your child's head, and send her out trick-or-treating.
Couch Potato
-
Turn someone in your family into a stereotypical couch potato by making them look like they've spent a few days in front of the television. Start by messing up the person's hair and putting a few globs of ketchup around the person's mouth. Place any T-shirt on him, but cover it with mustard, ketchup and potato chip crumbs. Help make the crumbs stick by spraying the T-shirt with spray glue and then placing crushed potato chips all over it. Place the person into a pair of oversized boxer shorts and a pair of tube socks and slippers, and hand him a remote control.

Bag of Potatoes
-
Instead of dressing up your child as a single potato, send her out as an entire sack of potatoes. Begin by placing the child in an oversized brown sweatshirt and brown sweatpants. Stuff the sweatshirt and pants with several pingpong balls. Tie the ends of her arms and ankles with pieces of twine. Write "Your Family's Name" Potato Company on the front of the sweatshirt with black permanent marker. Place the child in brown sneakers, put a brown stocking cap or a straw hat on her head and send the sack of potatoes out to have some Halloween fun.
