Learn and use decimals.

Decimals are not only an integral part of math class, but they're also found in everyday places such as: grocery stores, gas stations and libraries. Decimals are helpful because they break down whole numbers into more specific, definitive numbers that can help us improve accuracy on everything from cars to space ships.

  1. Decimal Darts

    • Decimal Darts is a game in which two decimal numbers are given at the start of each round. Three balloons are posted at the top, middle and bottom of the dart board. To pop the balloons, you must enter decimal numbers that are close to the high number, the middle number and the low number. You'll get five darts at the beginning of each round to try and nail the balloons. Sound easy? Laser Beams

    • Laser Beams is a decimal game that covers different levels of skill from simply rounding decimal numbers up to the nearest whole number, to rounding numbers and multiplying or dividing them. Each round begins with an asteroid coming in from the left side of the screen and exiting out the right side of the screen. You must complete the equation before the asteroid exits the screen to blast it away with your laser beam. Your misses and hits are calculated, and at the end of the round, you'll be notified whether you're ready to move on to the next level or if you need more practice.

    Beat the Clock

    • Beat the Clock is a little bit different than other decimal games and exercises because it uses visual depictions of decimals to help you learn fractional proportions simply by looking at them. A clock runs for an allotted amount of time (chosen by you) while you turn over cards displaying 100 squares, several of which are filled in. It's up to you to look at the amount of filled in squares and determine what the decimal version of that fraction is. Try to improve your score and move up to the advanced level after you get the hang of it.
