Boys' 1st Birthday Party Ideas
Your son's first birthday party is a day to not only commemorate his birth, it is also a day to celebrate the fact that you made it through the first year. This special gathering is also a wonderful time to invite your friends and family over to have a little fun and act like kids, too. Does this Spark an idea?

Invitations
-
Cut out the letter O, N and E from brightly colored construction paper. Punch small holes into each of the letters and string them together to resemble a banner. Write a message that conveys the intent of the party onto a piece of brightly colored card stock, along with the pertinent information for the party, including date, time and location of the party. Place the O-N-E banner, the party information and some brightly colored confetti into a small box. Mail the boxes to the potential guests of the party.
Decorations
-
Keep the decorations simple by using brightly colored streamers, balloons and tablecloths. You can use several different colors or keep the decorations gender-specific by decorating the party in shades of blue for the boy. Tie several helium filled balloons together and attach them to medium-sized teddy bears. These can be used as centerpieces. The teddy bears and balloons can also be taken home with the younger guests at the party.

Games and Activities
-
The games for the party can be centered on age-appropriate activities for your child. Give each of the guests a small color book and crayons, no matter what their age. Set up a petting zoo with friends and family member's cats, dogs and other pets. You can also set up other game stations that can be played by younger children, such as blocks and baby dolls.
Food
-
Plan two menus for your party: a kid's menu and an adult's menu. For the kid's menu, serve foods that can be enjoyed by babies and young children. Options for this menu could include fruit, yogurt, pudding, pizza and chicken fingers. Food for the adults should be more a variation on the children's menu, but for a more sophisticated palate. For instance, the adults could eat pizza that is covered with goat cheese and artichoke hearts, chicken kabobs with peppers and miniature onions and a vegetable platter with spinach dip. Serve all of the guests cake and ice cream. The cake can be in the shape of a baby bottle, a rattle or one of the child's favorite animals or storybook characters.
