Fort Fisher Aquarium is a must-see attraction along the North Carolina coast.

The North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher is a large public facility with a focus on the local waters and wildlife of the Cape Fear River. Visitors can get up-close views of freshwater and ocean fish, turtles, sharks, eels, stingrays, octopi and even a rare albino alligator. The aquarium is located in the small coastal town of Kure Beach, which lacks major hotel chains but offers several charming, independently operated hotels, motels and inns.

The Seven Seas Inn is a beachfront hotel with 33 rental units including standard hotel rooms and efficiency suites. South Wind Motor Inn

The South Wind Motor Inn lacks robust amenities, but it offers very competitive rates on its small number of spacious oceanfront and ocean view rooms. Standard rooms feature cable TV, microwaves, refrigerators and two full beds, while efficiencies have all those features plus a full kitchen and dining area. All oceanfront rooms have private, furnished balconies. Though some rooms have tubs, others have showers only. The South Wind Motor Inn is located just under three miles from Fort Fisher Aquarium.
