Homophones Interactive Games
Homophones are words that sound the same, but are spelled differently and mean different things. For example, "bear" and "bare" are homophones. Homophone games help students recognize homophones and their everyday occurrences in the English language. When tutoring or in-class work on homophones doesn't seem enough, try out a few different games for a fun yet educative approach to learning homophones.

This online flash card game (powered by Javascript) is available through Quia.com. The game presents 40 cards with homophones on both sides, such as "tense" on one side and "tents" on the other. You have the option to "Try again later," "Remove card" or "Restart" at any time during the game. Select "Try again later" to produce another flash card in the card set without removing any cards. Homophone Matching Game
-
This online game is available through BBC.co.uk and utilizes matching as a way to find homophones. A player is presented with three level choices, where level one has six pairs of tokens, level two has eight pairs and level three has 10 pairs. The game displays the words on each token for roughly 5 seconds before the tokens are turned over. To begin, select a token to see a word. A clue is provided to show what the word means (sometimes a sample sentence is given) as well as a voice that pronounces the word. When you select two different words, the tokens turn over, repeating until there is a match. Matched words move onto a "Matched Words" list.
