Funny Halloween Costumes for Teens
Dressing up for Halloween typically takes on a new meaning for teens. Instead of impressing those who pass out candy, teens would generally rather impress or entertain their friends. Put together a funny or humorous costume to make your friends laugh, or ask a few friends to dress up with you to make a bigger (and funnier) impact.

Characters
-
Dress up as a character you remember watching on TV or in cartoons as a child, or an ancient character your parents used to watch. For example, dress up as Jane Jetson from the cartoon "The Jetsons," Wilma or Pebbles Flintstone, one of the Teletubbies (bonus points if you can get three of your friends to dress up as the other 'Tubbies) or Spongebob. Current characters, such as those from South Park or Aqua Teen Hunger Force, may incite a giggle or two from your friends, as well as spark conversations with other teens who enjoy those cartoons. Or, choose your favorite fairytale or book characters, such as Humpty Dumpty or the Cat in the Hat.
Food Items
-
Choose a food item, or a food group if your friends are in collaboration with you. You can be the bacon and your best friend can be the eggs. Or, dress as a banana, celery, carrots, a T-bone steak, carton of milk or any other food item that catches your attention.
-
Occupational
-
Costumes that pertain to certain occupations, or stereotypes of those occupations, may be humorous to you and your friends. For example, a plumber outfit that includes a full moon (the exposed bottom is a part of the costume) might be stereotypical, but funny to you. Dress up with a friend, with one of you as an inmate, with the other a jail guard or police officer; or one of you as a pilot and the other as a flight attendant.
Society
-
Basic roles in society can serve as humorous costumes as well, such as hippies or hobos. Dress up like a "nerd" with short pants, large bow ties, buck teeth and pocket protectors. Get a friend, or group of friends, to dress up as well. Make or buy a costume to look like a big baby, or a big ugly baby, with a large diaper and bib. Cross-dressing is typically funny, especially if you do it in a group or as a couple. For example, have the football player dress up like a cheerleader (with a stuffed bra, pig tails, ribbons and makeup) and the cheerleader dress up like a football player. Use history as the basis for your costume by dressing up like a cave man (or woman) or other prehistoric person.
Traditional Costumes
-
Put a twist on traditional costumes to make them funny. For example, dress up like a bumble bee but add a banner or props to be a "killer bee." Make a witch costume, but cross it with a pumpkin or wild colors, such as lime green or hot pink.
