Most grants for Americans with disabilities are provided by the Federal government. The American Disabilities Act, brought attention to some of the injustices and hardships that many disabled people live with daily. There are a variety of grants available to assist organizations and entities that are working to support disabled individuals in their pursuit for equality.

The Americans With Disabilities Act (ADA) Technical Assistance Program is a grant offered by the Department of Justice, Civil Rights Division. This grant offers funding to organizations in order to provide technical assistance and educational activities for people with disabilities. It is an educational grant, so it only provides funding for educational materials within the scope of the ADA. Nonprofit organizations and other organizations educating people with disabilities can apply for this grant via the Department of Justice, and funding is usually given within 60 to120 days of the application.
Voting Access for Individuals with Disabilities-Grants for Protection and Advocacy Systems

The Voting Access for Individuals with Disabilities-Grants for Protection and Advocacy Systems grant provides funding to allow individuals with disabilities access to election stations. The goal of the grant is to provide individuals with disabilities a greater role in the election process. Funds for this grant are awarded yearly, and is only open to States and Territories that have a Protection and Advocacy System in place. This grant is not available for nonprofit organizations.

Work Incentives Grant

The Work Incentives Grant is a Department of Labor grant intended to establish Disability Program Navigators in One Stop Career Centers. The goal of the grant is to increase the ability of disabled individuals to apply for and to attain jobs in the workplace. By providing funding for training of disabled individuals to organizations like One Stop Career Centers, this grant increases the marketability of disabled people. Funding is limited to State workplace training centers.
