Father's Day Card Crafts for Kids
Rather than giving a traditional Father's Day card, many children want to make their dad a creative card for his special day. When selecting a Father's Day craft, consider the child's age and artistic ability. Fortunately, a variety of craft ideas are available. These Father's Day craft cards not only allow the child to use his creativity during the activity, but also provide a memorable gift for dad on Father's Day.

Finger Painting
-
The saying on this card will read, "Dad, you're the apple of my eye and I love you a bunch." Along with this greeting, incorporate an apple and a bunch of grapes. This craft requires a piece of white paper, four paper plates, finger paint (red, purple, green and brown), washable markers, an apple cut in half lengthwise and newspaper. Before starting the craft, lay newspaper on a table to protect the surface.
Squeeze the different colored finger paints onto the paper plates. Have the child dip the apple half into the red paint and stamp the apple image onto the paper. The child should use her fingers to add a brown stem and green leaves. To make the grapes, the child will dip her fingertips into the purple or green paint to make a bunch of grapes on the card. Use the brown paint to make a stem at the top of the grape bunch. Use the washable markers to write the greeting. Let the card dry overnight.
Coupon Card
-
In lieu of a traditional Father's Day card, make a coupon card to present to dad on his special day. For this craft, you need at least three pieces of light-colored paper, washable markers, a hole punch and ribbon or yarn.
Cut each piece of paper in half crosswise. If necessary, an adult can assist with this step to assure the child's safety. To make the cover of the coupon book, the child can write a small message to his father on one of the paper pieces. On each additional piece of paper, the child can create a variety of "coupons" for his father's use. For example, write "This coupon is good for: Taking out the trash" or "This coupon is good for: One quiet afternoon to watch football." The child can use his creativity to develop coupons his dad will enjoy. After each coupon is written, the child can draw pictures and decorate each one. Arrange the coupons in order with the cover page first. Punch one hole through the upper left corner of each page. Pass a small piece of yarn or ribbon through the hole to tie all the pages together.

Tie Card
-
For this Father's Day card, you need a heavy piece of white paper (construction paper or cardstock), scissors, washable markers, glue and an old tie. The card itself will be in the shape of a man's dress shirt.
Cut the top of the cardstock into an "M" shape. There should be two triangles at the top of the page--the triangles will serve as the shirt's collar points. Fold the triangles at the base toward the bottom of the paper. Use the washable markers to draw a line down the center of the page. Draw buttons next to the line. Take the old tie and cut it so it will fit on the card. Use glue to attach the tie to the top of the card where the triangles are folded down. The rest of the tie should move freely. Fold the triangles down again and glue them into place. Pick the tie up and have the child write a Father's Day message underneath the tie. When the tie is in place, the message should not be visible.
