The Pneumatic Diner, established in 1988, offers vegetarian and vegan comfort food in a casual atmosphere. The dining area is intimate, making it difficult to accommodate groups of more than 4 diners, but the atmosphere is funky with neon lighting on the ceiling. The artwork changes monthly. The bar is in the middle of the dining area surrounded by approximately 10 tables. Vegan diners will enjoy the grilled eggplant, zucchini, onion, lettuce and hummus sandwich called the Vegan Bubba, the breakfast burrito featuring tofu, garlic, zucchini and potato or the nachos with avocado. Many of the vegetarian entrees can be made vegan upon request.

Freeman's Natural Hot Dogs

Freeman's serves conventional, vegetarian and vegan hot dogs, sausages, salads and chili. Order at the counter before finding a seat at one of the small tables or at a chair along the gray walls. Outdoor seating is available during the summer. Vegan selections include the Bun Burner, vegan sausage with chipotle sauce, peppers, salsa and jalapenos, and the Wholly Dog made with vegan Italian sausage, hummus, tomatoes and lemon. Diners can also create their own dogs by selecting the sausage and toppings from the menu. Vegan chili is also available. All vegan sausages are kept separate from non-vegan products.

Dandelion Deli and Catering

The Dandelion vegetarian and vegan deli is decorated in bright primary colors and vases holding the restaurant's namesake flower adorn the wooden square tables. The signature vegan sandwich is made with homemade hummus, tabbouleh, lettuce, tomato, onion, sprouts and mustard. Vegan diners can also sample the vegan soups, the artichoke and hummus sandwich or some of the vegan desserts including cookies. This deli is a good option for a quick and healthy weekday lunch.
