Contemporary Stone Pool Ideas

Contemporary Stone Pool Ideas thumbnail
Stone tiles give pools a sharp style.

Contemporary stone pool ideas use stone tiles to create the deck, coping, walls and/or floor of the pool. The deck creates the walkway around the pool and the coping creates the non-slip trim around the edge of the pool. You can limit your use of stone to just the deck and coping around a pool insert, or build a custom pool with stone tiles. Does this Spark an idea?

  1. Aquatic Raised Pool

    • An inset pool that rises 1 foot above the ground can use blue hues for an aquatic theme. Large, light blue, bluestone tiles cover the deck and walls for the pool. Small, dark-blue, bluestone tiles cover the floor and coping for the pool. White, black and gray bluestone tiles are added to the pool floor to create a modern dolphin and fish mosaic.

    Bold Ground Pool

    • A contemporary stone pool with burgundy and white granite tiles creates a bold style. Square tiles create a burgundy and white check pattern across the bottom of the large rectangular pool. Square, burgundy, granite tiles create the pool walls and thin coping. White granite tiles cover the rectangular pool deck and create a pair of small, rectangular stairs on the shallow end.

    Earthy Ground Pool

    • Pebble surfaces and sharp lines create a modern stone pool with an earthy theme. The large square pool has a smooth, pebble-inlaid surface covering the floor, walls and rounded coping. A small, square, pebble-surfaced hot tub sits in one end of the pool. The hot tub's walls sit slightly above the pool and have a set of stairs leading into the pool for easy entry. Cut river rocks create a cobblestone deck surrounding the pool and hot tub.

    Freestanding Infinity Pool

    • A medium, rectangular, deep, overflowing pool in the middle of a large, rectangular, shallow pool creates the freestanding infinity pool. The overflowing water drains out of the large pool to be recycled for a constant "waterfall" effect. Black marble blocks make up the entire structure, from the floors to the raised coping around the large pool.

    Luxury Fountain Pool

    • Green marble tiles with white streaks create a luxurious style for a large, circular ground pool. The marble covers the floor, walls and large deck of the pool. Swirl-carved pieces of white marble create a decorative coping. A tall, green marble cylinder rises from the center of the pool with a white marble ball on top. Water trickles from the top of the ball, creating a modern fountain.

    Minimalist Fountain Pool

    • The sleek ground pool can use white marble or granite to create a clean and contemporary style. Square, white stone covers the floor, walls and coping of the long, rectangular pool. A 4-foot tall, stone-covered, rectangular wall rises above one short side of the pool. Water spouts from the top of the wall and drizzles down the front into the pool. Stone-covered, rectangular stairs lead into the pool on the opposite end from the fountain.
