Christian Valentine's Games
Valentine's Day is an occasion not only to celebrate romantic love but also to reflect on God's love. Church parties for kids, teens, couples and families are great ways to celebrate this day. You can plan games that are fun for specific age groups or for the entire family.

Honey If You Love Me
-
This game is a fun icebreaker for any age. The participants must stand or sit in circle. The person who is "it" must go to another person in the group and say, "Honey, if you love me, you'll smile." That person must then respond, "Honey, I love you, but I just can't smile." The responding person should not smile (which can be very difficult). If she can respond without smiling, the person who is "it" must try again with another individual. If the responding person just can't hold out and a does indeed smile, then that individual must be "it" next. This game will have your group laughing and in a great mood in no time.
Love Scavenger Hunt
-
This game is a great way to demonstrate God's love on Valentine's Day. It's also a good way to cheer up folks who may not have a special "someone" in their lives on Valentine's Day. Create a scavenger hunt list that centers on acts of loving service. For instance, you might include raking someone's yard, carrying someone's groceries or washing someone's car. Divide your group into two teams. Give each team a list of items that it must perform. Instruct the teams to take pictures or collect signatures to prove each act of service that they performed. Regroup, and share your experiences at the end of the game.

Love Verses
-
This game is a way to explore the concept of love in the Bible. Divide your group into teams of two to five people. Set a time limit (perhaps 15 to 30 minutes). Explain that each group must write down as many Scripture references to "love" as possible within the time limit. Make sure that all the groups are using the same version of the Bible, since different translations may contain more or less occurrences of the word love. See which team can find the most references. Have the teams read their verses aloud for the group at the end of the game. You also might want to go around and let each person state his favorite verses.
Word Scramble
-
Write the beginning of the famous verse from John 3:16, which states, "For God so loved the world...." Challenge the members of your group to write down as many words as possible using the letters contained in this phrase. Set a time limit, and see who can figure out the most words by the time the game ends. Discuss how God demonstrated his love and how we can demonstrate our love on Valentine's Day and throughout the year.
