Ideas for Styrofoam Easter Eggs Using Mod Podge

Mod Podge is a decoupage glue that works to attach paper, photos, or pressed flowers to glass, plastic, wood, or Styrofoam. Mod Podge glues and protects the paper materials with a glossy or semi-glossy sheen. One such craft project involves covering Styrofoam egg shapes with a variety of materials using Mod Podge. You can make these decorative Easter eggs as gifts or to complement your holiday style.

Mosaic Easter Eggs

Cut or tear a variety of different colored tissue paper into small bits to create a mosaic Easter egg using Mod Podge. Coat the Styrofoam eggs with a layer of decoupage medium, then press the paper into the wet glue. Paint sponges work well with Mod Podge. Overlap the edges until the egg is completely covered. Spread more decoupage glue on top of the colorful tissue paper and let it dry completely. Add another coat of Mod Podge as added protection.

Wrapping Paper Easter Eggs

Decorative wrapping paper is a good candidate for covering Styrofoam Easter eggs using Mod Podge. Select thick paper with a springtime theme and cut out a section to fit the entire Styrofoam egg. Paint the egg in a soft lavender, yellow, blue, or green, and let it dry before you apply the first layer of Mod Podge. Place the pansies one by one around the center, at the top and at the bottom of the egg. Finish with another coat or two of Mod Podge.

Cut words out of magazines to make Easter eggs with a message. Paint the eggs a corresponding background color, then attach the paper words to the eggs with Mod Podge. Protect the message with at least one more coat of Mod Podge.
