Springtime Crafts for Kids
If you're looking to keep your kids entertained during spring break, consider visiting the arts and crafts store to pick up supplies for springtime crafts they can make at home. Creating crafts gives kids an opportunity to express their creativity and learn the importance of following instructions. From flowers and butterflies to bird nests and caterpillars, your child can create crafts he can sell at a spring festival or give to neighbors as gifts.

Flower
-
Children can create colorful flower bouquets using egg cartons, paint, pipe cleaners and glue. Use child-safe scissors to separate the small cups of the egg carton. Cut from the top to the middle of each cup to create petals for the flower bouquet. Colorful paint can add springtime flair to this craft. Use the pipe cleaners to create stems for the flowers. Put the finished bouquet of flowers inside of a decorative vase and use it to decorate your home's living or family room.
Butterfly
-
For a simple spring craft that requires little clean-up, have your child use construction paper to trace his hands four times, on four different pieces of paper to begin creating a butterfly. Cut out the traced hands and use the scrape to create a body for the butterfly. The body should be long and oval. The traced hands will act as wings for the butterfly. Glue two traced hands on each side of the oval shape. Then use wiggly eyes glitter, paint, markers, stickers and pipe cleaners to decorate the butterfly.

Caterpillar
-
Place glue on a regular-sized wooden craft stick. Attach pom-poms to the stick until the entire area is covered. Press the pom-poms down so they are secure. Give the glue plenty of time to dry so that the pom-poms don't fall off of the stick. Pom-poms are available in a variety of colors and shapes. For a spring theme, colors like pink, yellow, blue and purple are ideal. After the pom-poms dry, use pipe cleaners, construction paper and wiggly eyes to create facial expression on the caterpillars.
Bird Nest
-
For an edible springtime craft your child will enjoy, create a mini bird nests using thin noodles, chocolate chips, peanuts, jelly beans or egg-shaped chocolate candies. Help your child melt the chocolate chips and slowly add the remaining ingredients into the chocolate. Stir the items together, until all other ingredients are covered in chocolate. Use a tablespoon to scoop drops of the mixture onto wax paper, a heat-safe plate or a baking pan. Use the spoon to arrange the mixture so it can hold the egg-shaped candy and jelly beans. Put the candy in the middle, then let the bird nests sit overnight.
