CoCo Key Water Resort---Swimming Fun All Year Long

With two locations in Massachusetts, on the North Shore and in Metro West, CoCo Key offers a place to play in all four seasons. The main attraction is the Water Resort, where it is always a balmy 84 degrees, and parties can accommodate 10 to 100 guests. The parks have water slides, activity pools, whirlpools, a tube ride and an interactive activity center for younger children. For those who don't want to swim, there is also an arcade. Parties include pizza or hot dogs, soda, a personalized birthday cake, an arcade card and a goody bag for all guests. As of 2010, prices ranges between $13 and $35 per person depending on the day of the week and the type of party (access to the water park is more expensive than an arcade party alone).

American Girl Boston--Birthday Parties for Girls and Their Dolls

For girls and their friends 5 and up, American Girl Boston is the place for a Bistro Birthday Celebration including a meal, goody bag, cake and ice cream. An upgrade to a Deluxe Birthday Celebration adds a craft, table games, doll tiaras and a gift for the birthday girl. Parties start at $27 (2010 pricing) and go up depending on various options. Girls can also take their dolls to the hair salon or shop in the store.

Puppet Showplace Theatre--Entertainment in Brookline Village

Since the late 1970s, the nonprofit Puppet Showplace Theatre has been entertaining audiences and preserving the legacy of puppetry in the Boston area. The shows change throughout the year and will entertain children and adults alike. The party can be a public performance of a show as a group and have a party afterward in the lobby or can have a private birthday party in the theater, either option including decorations and refreshments. On-site parties can hold approximately 20 children. Alternatively, Puppet Showplace can arrange for a touring performer to bring a show to a home or other facility.

Plaster Fun Time keeps kids busy making their own art projects with a party at one of their numerous locations offering plaster painting. There are nine locations around the state (in Braintree, Framingham, Newton, Reading, Salem, Charlestown, Chelmsford, Dedham and Waltham), and Plaster Fun Time has budget-friendly pricing starting at $10.99 per child (2010 pricing) with a 10-child minimum and no maximum. Provide your own cake, drinks and paper products, and the store can order optional pizza at an affordable price. Their staff keeps the children occupied as they paint their selected plaster item with all the supplies provided by the shop.

ArtBeat has two locations, in Arlington and Franklin, with different party projects based on the age of the children (from ages 4 to teenagers), which can include painting, doll making, stained glass, mosaics, candles, or jewelry. Prices vary depending on the type of craft. Parents supply their own refreshments, and ArtBeat supplies the take-home craft project and a balloon.
