Long Beach Island is a traditional part of the iconic New Jersey shore vacation experience. Linked to the mainland by the Route 72 causeway, nearby campgrounds provide a base station from which to enjoy the island's oceanfront beaches, shore towns and year-round recreation.

West Creek Options

From crabbing to ceramics, Sea Pirates Campground at West Creek offers a wide range of campsites and family activities. Located just eight miles from Long Beach Island, the facility has tent sites surrounded by woods, large RV sites with full hook-up and premium drive-thru sites. Cottages and both deluxe and rustic cabins offer additional options. Amenities include a stocked catch-and-release pond, camp store, snack bar, playground, volleyball and basketball courts and an arcade. Kayaks and canoes are available on-site for exploring area waters. Campers also enjoy themed activities such as Pirates Weekend, with its live pirate show and weapons display, and Dance Night, a salute to the music of the 50s, 60s and 70s. The campground's season runs from late April through mid-October.

Shady Pineland Campsites

Located within the New Jersey Pinelands at Little Egg Harbor just a 20-minute drive to Long Beach Island, Baker's Acres offers 300 shady campsites. There are primitive sites for those who like to rough it, sites with water and 30 amp electric service, and sites with electric, water, sewer and cable. Guests may also choose from rustic cabins that sleep four to six people, cottages with kitchenettes and bathrooms that accommodate four people and RV rentals. Campground amenities include modern restrooms, free hot showers, Wi-Fi, a convenience store, laundry facilities and a dump station. The pet-friendly facility provides family-oriented activities ranging from free movies to arts and crafts and kickball. Look for special events such as magic shows, fish fries, treasure hunts and the annual Baker's Acres Bake Off which sees campers competing to earn a place in the campground Hall of Fame. The season at Baker's Acres runs from May 1 through October.

Resort Camping at Barnegat

You can enjoy campground resort life for a night, a week or by the month at Long Beach Carefree RV Resort at Barnegat. Located just 10 miles from Long Beach Island, the resort offers 227 large sites, accommodating everything from tents to RVs to camping cabins. There are full hook-up sites, grills and picnic tables, Wi-Fi, onsite laundry facilities and a store for purchasing treats and supplies. Recreation facilities include mini golf, a playground, nature trails and a swimming pool. Activities range from bingo and karaoke to billiards and hayrides. The family-friendly resort is open from April 1 to November 1.

Four-Season Camping

Enjoy camping throughout the year at Atlantic City North Family Campground at Tuckerton. A short 15-minute drive from Long Beach Island's shores, the campground accommodates both tents and RVs. Sites include those with no utilities along with a selection featuring water and electric only, as well as full hook-ups. Additional options include lodges with kitchenettes and bathrooms and one- and two-bedroom air-conditioned cabins. On-site amenities include free hot showers, laundry facilities, a fitness room, store and snack bar. For recreation, enjoy the pool, water playground, mini golf, horseshoes, shuffleboard, an arcade and volleyball and basketball courts. Holiday celebrations and special themed events including Hawaiian Weekend, with its steel drum reggae music and costume contest, offer family entertainment options.
