Online Writing Jobs for College Students

Online writing jobs make it possible for students to earn extra income around their busy schedules. Many different websites offer students the opportunity to write about different topics that interest them whenever and wherever they want. Payment comes by mail, by PayPal or direct deposit to a bank account.

  1. Demand Studios

    • Students can write articles on thousands of different topics, from travel reviews to how to build a backpack, with Demand Students. To apply, submit a resume and one or two sample articles. If selected to become a writer, you can fill out your profile and start writing away.

Demand Studios pays writers twice a week and transfers all the money earned into a PayPal account. Payment ranges from $3 to $15 per article, or with an option called revenue share—a commission paid based on how many viewers read the article.

    SEED

    • Aol's SEED.com, another writing website, doesn't require application. Just sign up with an email account and start writing. This site offers pay ranging from $5 to $200. Unlike other websites, SEED does not have an editorial staff that allows you to rewrite any articles; therefore, you will receive either an acceptance or denial on your first draft. This site provides a great way to make money; just take the time to follow to the guidelines carefully and proofread your work inside and out.

    Suite 101

    • Suite 101 requires an application including the submission of two articles. This site pays writers a competitive fixed fee per article. College students can write around their free time, but Suite 101 requires the completion of 10 articles every three months. If you do not meet this minimum requirement, the site may remove you as a writer.
