Good Two-Player Games for the Xbox 360

Save

Since its release--mostly due to Halo's success--the Xbox has always been home to some of the best multiplayer games available. As time progressed, the more popular games on the Xbox 360 became those containing expansive multiplayer options; both competitively and cooperatively.

Gears of War 2

  • "Gears of War" is another take on the traditional humans vs alien sci-fi conflict. A sequel to the original, "Gears of War 2" improves on nearly every aspect of the first game--particularly, the two player cooperative mode. "Gears of War 2" has cooperative support for up to two players both online and off. The entire campaign mode may be played cooperatively, with each player fighting alongside each other; along with the occasional scenario that causes the players to split up in order to progress.

Left 4 Dead 2

  • "Left 4 Dead 2" is a fast paced, zombie-centric survival horror game. With support for up to four players, "Left 4 Dead 2" introduces new special infected monsters and smarter AI specifically designed to cause trouble for however many players are in the game at once. The "AI Director" acts as the games dungeon master, placing weapons, items, and monsters in different locations every time the game is played. This keeps players guessing and changing tactics to best handle the game's various scenarios.

Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Vegas 2

  • The slowest game on the list just so happens to be the most difficult. "Rainbow Six Vegas 2" sends players back to Las Vegas to thwart various terrorist attacks. With an emphasis on tactics and realism, players are encouraged to plan ahead and coordinate as a team. Lone wolves and those privy to "run 'n' gun" tactics will find that this game is not forgiving. "Rainbow Six Vegas 2" has support for up to four players cooperatively, both online and offline.
