Antivirus Program Removal Tools

It is essential to have a good anti-virus program installed on your PC. However, the time may come when new security threats call for new programs, or the current program just is not getting the job done. Most anti-virus removal tools are developed by the same company that creates the anti-virus application. Following is a list of anti-virus program removal tools that can be used for the PC.

  1. Kaspersky: KAVRemover

    • Designed to be an application removal tool, KAVRemover is compatible with almost all Kasperky Lab products: Kaspersky Anti-Virus (version 6.0, 7.0 and 2009), Kaspersky Anti-Virus 6.0 for Windows Servers and Kaspersky Internet Security (version 6.0, 7.0 and 2009). However, this uninstaller can only eliminate Kaspersky Internet Security 2009 and Kaspersky Anti-Virus 2009 when executed under 64-bit operating system.

    McAfee: McAfee Consumer Product Removal Tool

    • This anti-virus removal tool, which is represented by the MCPR.exe process, is capable of removing all variants of McAfee consumer products: McAfee Security Center, McAfee Personal Firewall Plus, McAfee VirusScan, McAfee Privacy Service, McAfee AntiSpyware, McAfee Data Backup, McAfee Wireless Network Security, McAfee SpamKiller, McAfee Network Manager, McAfee SiteAdvisor and McAfee Easy Network. This anti-virus program removal tool can be downloaded at McAfee's support website.

    Bitdefender: Bitdefender Uninstall Tool

    • Bitdefender Uninstall Tool was developed to remove Bitdefender (versions 7, 8 and 9) on the computer system. It can be utilized for both 64-bit and 32-bit operating systems.

    Symantec: Norton Removal Tool

    • Norton Removal Tool was designed by Symantec as an application that can remove different versions of Norton applications from your PC. Among the applications that it can remove are Norton AntiVirus 2003 through 2007, Norton AntiSpam 2004/2005, Norton GoBack 3.1 through 4.2, Norton Personal Firewall 2003 up to 2006, Norton Internet Security Add-on Pack, Norton SystemWorks 2003 up to 2007, Norton Confidential Online and Norton 360. This tool can be used if the Windows Add/Remove Programs feature failed to remove the Norton application.

    AVG: AVG Remover

    • Published as a freeware utility, AVG Remover allows removal of AVG Anti-Virus in case the uninstallation or removal process repeatedly fails. The uninstaller is about 701 kilobytes in size and supports almost all versions of Windows.

    NOD32 : NOD32 Removal Tool

    • Developed by Nod32 Netherlands, NOD32 Removal Tool can help remove NOD32 or ESET from the machine. All that is required is to launch the application, choose "Yes" and wait until it confirms that it has finished the job.
