Scholarships Abroad for Graduate Programs

Graduate students that have dreamed of pursuing education abroad have many scholarship opportunities that could fund that dream and make it a reality. Each scholarship has its own requirements and limitations. Science and Business graduates are particularly encouraged to study abroad. The federal government is encouraging all students to study overseas. It is hoped that through studying abroad the United States will develop leaders that will be able to compete globally in Science, Economics and Business.

  1. Robert B. Baily Scholarship

    • The founder's intention of this scholarship was to encourage minority students that have been underrepresented studying abroad. This fund is particularly interested in assisting ethnic minority graduate students. In 2009 this scholarship awarded $1500 for a yearlong graduate study overseas and $500 for a summer graduate study overseas.

    Marshall Scholarship

    • The Marshall Scholarship is a very competitive scholarship that will give forty American students a chance to pursue a graduate study program in the United Kingdom. This scholarship can be used at any institution of higher learning in England. This award will provide two years of study in England and will sometimes include a third year.

    George Mitchell Scholarships

    • The George Mitchell Scholarships are available to American students that are enrolled in a graduate study program. This award will cover both student housing and tuition. The scholarship will award a stipend for living expenses and travel for one year. These scholarships are available on a yearly basis to Ireland.

    Luce Scholarships

    • This scholarship program was founded by the Henry Luce Foundation in hopes of developing an understanding and deeper awareness of Asia in America's future leaders. Mr. Luce hoped through this scholarship that graduate students would gain real life experiences in Asia. This fund encourages students that might not ever have the chance to go to Asia experience it as a young student that has demonstrated leadership qualities. This scholarship will provide language training, stipends and individualized professional placement in Asia.

    The Boren Fellowship

    • The Boren Fellowship can give up to $30,000 to graduate students who are interested in international studies and language overseas. The Borne Fellowship will fund studies and research in parts of the world that are particularly critical to United States interests. Some of the countries included are: Central and Eastern Europe, The Middle East, Asia and Africa. The fund gives higher priority to students that are interested in a career with the federal government.
