Inexpensive Ideas for a Wedding Shower
Wedding showers can be a fun way for the bridal party and the bride’s family and friends to give her one last day of fun with the girls before becoming someone’s wife. The fun of this event does not have to cost a fortune. There are several different ways to celebrate a woman’s passage into marriage without breaking the bank. Does this Spark an idea?
-
Food
-
Be creative with the food. Have finger foods such as small sandwiches, vegetables and dip, cheese and crackers and cookies. Ask friends and family to each bring a dish to offset the cost of the food. Do not get trapped into the idea that you must serve a seven-course meal to make your guests happy. Purchasing the food and beverages in bulk and keeping your fruit and vegetable choices to ones that are in season are other ways to save money. Make the focus of the shower the bride, conversation and fun, not how much money you spend feeding the crowd.
Guest List
-
Keep the guest list small by inviting only the bride’s closest friends and family members. Do not feel obligated to invite every woman the bride knows. This will not only drive up the cost of the affair; it will make it seem more impersonal as well. This intimate gathering will give the bride one last chance to speak with the people who matter most to her before the hectic big day.

Venue and Decorations
-
Hold the shower at someone’s home or ask a friend or relative of the bride if you can host the affair at one of their homes or businesses, if they have a particularly lovely residence or own a hall or restaurant. Keep the decorations simple; stick to balloons, streamers and covered tables. Purchase a bouquet of the bride’s favorite flowers and place a single one in bud vases around the room to add a sentimental touch. These flowers can also be given to the guests as a memento of the occasion.
Favors
-
Most brides want to give their guests a memento of the evening. The bests gifts do not have large price tags. One such gift is a small picture frame that contains a picture of the bride and groom, or of the bride and the recipient of the picture. You can also create gift bags that contain all of the pieces needed for a manicure or pedicure. The bag could contain a nail file, a small bottle of lotion and a bottle of nail polish. The bag itself can be a paper sandwich bag that has been decorated with the date of the party and the bride and groom's names.
