Hairstyles With Eyeglasses

The preventblindness.org website asserts that over half of all Americans need some kind of corrective lenses so they can see properly. Some of these people can't or don't want to wear contacts. These individuals must wear glasses and have the challenge of finding hairstyles that work well with the frames they have. Does this Spark an idea?

  1. Short Cuts

    • Thehairstyler.com asserts that the best hairstyles for showing off frames are shorter cuts. This is because shorter hair draws attention to the face rather than away from it, naturally bringing focus to the frames. Hairfinder.com suggests that if you want to emphasize the glasses you're wearing, you should consider bobs, shags, or pixie cuts. All of these hairstyles are both trendy and classic and require very little maintenance. Bobs usually are no longer than mid-neck length but are more commonly around chin length or shorter. Shags are similar to bobs but have much more layering, giving a more casual appearance. Pixie cuts are very short (only about 1 to 2 inches) and need to be cut often, but they are extremely easy to style and thus are good for eyeglass wearers who are constantly on the go.

    Lengthening/Lifting Cuts

    • Thehairstyler.com and hairfinder.com both suggest that you not wear hairstyles with a lot of volume on the sides if your frames are wide. This will just continue to widen and flatten the face. Instead, styles that lift the hair are better. For example, you might want to get a short crop and spike it or pull your hair up into a loose updo. However, a long, loose and flowing hairstyle such as cascading curls also may be appropriate for wider frames because it provides a vertical dimension to your appearance. Hairfinder.com suggests long layers for glasses that are large, as well.

    Emphasizing/De-emphasizing Cuts

    • According to thehairstyler.com, bangs and fringes have a huge impact on how much the frames are emphasized. They recommend keeping bangs and fringe minimal for heavy frames. If your frames are heavy, some styles to try are French braids and ponytails. Half up, half down hairstyles will look great because they keep hair out of the way but temper the boldness of a heavy frame. If your frames are light, you may want to try wispy bangs that are swept sensually to one side. If you do use bangs or fringe, make sure the frames are not obscured in any way by the length of the hair. If your frames are soft looking, try bolder looks like spikes or strips of highlights.
