Project Ideas for Elementary Students to Improve Their School
Every elementary school has something that they can improve on. Students can get involved in bettering their school by working on various projects to make a positive difference. Improving their school works to their benefit and is advantageous to the students that follow. Although some projects may seem simple, they can have quite the impact in making the school a better place.

Book Collection
-
Some elementary school libraries are severely lacking in books the students actually want to read. The students can do occasional book drives where teachers and the other students donate new or very gently used books to the library. If there are interesting books in the library, it may encourage more students to read more often.
Mural Painting
-
If there are any students that are especially adept at painting, they can help their art teacher paint a mural on some interior spots on the inside of the school. The murals should go where the students can see, and be inspired, by them on a daily basis. Some optimal choices are in the cafeteria, in the main hallway and even in the bathroom. Landscaping
-
Pulling out some extra weeds and planting some small trees and flowers can make the outside of the school look more welcoming. In addition to planting flowers, the students can also leave some in large planters to give a varied look. If possible, the students can also plant annual bulbs so that the flowers will pop up the following year.
Start Clubs
-
Some elementary schools are lack fun and rewarding after-school clubs for the students. These clubs can be instrumental in nurturing a child’s interest in a specific subject as well as give them something to keep them occupied after school lets out. Students can request to start certain clubs that do not currently exist, for example, an art club or a music club. They can do fundraisers to raise funds to get the club started as well as find an adviser.
Survey Programs
-
In many schools, there may not be a place where students can give suggestions as for changes. Some may not feel comfortable approaching the administration. Students can start a survey program where a few times a year, they collect comment cards from students and take surveys to find out what changes the students would like to see.
