Baseball Team Building Exercises

Teaching and practicing baseball isn't always enough to produce a winning team. Coaches need a team to work together and develop a bond with each other. Successful baseball teams perform as one unit, and unity can be developed in ways outside of baseball. Team-bonding exercises need to be competitive, to get the players in the proper mode, and geared toward developing a family atmosphere.

  1. Training Competitions

    • Design competitions for players in training. Relay races can get players to compete and train for the season. Have losing teams perform additional exercises to serve as motivation for the competition. Competitive conditioning drills serve a dual purpose in getting the players in shape and providing team-building exercises.

    Road Trip

    • Have the team take a road trip together. The destination really doesn't matter as long as it's interesting. The goal of the trip should be to have the players interact and get to know each other better, including each player's background and motivation. The interaction will help them grow as a team, making them feel more like family than just teammates.

    Party

    • Plan a team party and take the players out of their comfort zone. Asking players to sing or dance is a popular way of promoting laughter and a good time together. It will help the players relax with each other and foster growth as a team.
