Teacher Welcome Back Bulletin Board Ideas
At the start of the year, a bulletin board can help to beautify your classroom and welcome your students back to school. Use your bulletin board as the main focus of your classroom decorating theme, and make sure to include your students in your bulletin board design so they will feel welcome and included in your classroom right from the start.

Into the Grade
-
Welcome students into their new class by using a phrase including the name of the grade and an action verb. For instance, you might use the phrase, "Zoom Into Third Grade" and put every child's name on a spaceship cutout. Or write "Hop Into Kindergarten" and put every child's name on a lily pad around a frog with your name on it. Or invite students to "Surf Into Fifth Grade" by writing their names on surf boards with an ocean background.
Sense of Community
-
Build a sense of community by writing the words "Welcome to Our ..." and following it up with a community word and animal themes. For instance, you might write "Welcome to our Hive" and write the students' names on bumblebee images. Or write the children's names on bears and write "Welcome to our Den." Try "Welcome to our School" and write their name on fish, or "Welcome to our Flock" and write their names on birds.

Policies and Procedures
-
At the beginning of the year it can be difficult for children to learn the policies and procedures in a new class. Remind your students about policies and procedures in your class in a creative way. Write "Keys to Success" on the board and then list the class rules on a cutout of a key. Or show them the "Steps to Success" and write the rules on steps leading up to a school building. Try "Steps to a Good Year" and write the policies on footprints, or even list the classroom jobs with a picture of each job next to it.
Introduce Yourself
-
Take the time to let your students know more about you by making yourself the center of the bulletin board display. Display photos of yourself, your family or your favorite things on the bulletin board, and write small "fun facts" about yourself around the edges. Later on in the year, you can showcase one or two "students of the month" in the same fashion and put their information on the board for their classmates to see.
Smart Kids
-
Make your students feel good about themselves by using your bulletin board to highlight how smart you think they are. Write "Sharp Students" on the board and put every child's name on a picture of a pencil. Or try "Bright Students" and put their names on a sunshine cutout or a cutout of sunglasses. Try "Head of the Class" and put the kids' names on cutouts to look like human bodies, then ask them to bring in their own photos to display on the heads of each cutout.
