Scholarships for Minority Seniors
Minority high school seniors have a number of scholarships available to help defray college educational costs. Some scholarships for minority students are available only to people of one particular race. Other scholarships are available to members of many minority groups.

Gates Millennium Scholars

The Gates Millennium Scholarship program targets African American, American Indian, Asian and Pacific Islander American, and Hispanic American high school students who have a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of between 3.3 and 4.0 and are planning on attending an accredited 4 year educational institution. Applicants must have a demonstrable financial need and have a good track record of community service and extra-curricular activities. Once nominated, applications are read by independent assessors for academic achievement, community service and leadership potential.
Asian and Pacfic Islander American Scholarship Fund

The Asian and Pacific Islander American Scholarship Fund (APIASF) offers needs based scholarships to high school students, including seniors, of Asian or Pacific Islander descent. Awards range from $2,500 to $5,000 and are awarded to around 200 students per year. Applicants must have a cumulative GPA of between 2.7 and 4.0 and must have completed a federal financial aid application. Applicants must have at least one letter of recommendation and be enrolling in an accredited college or university.

United Negro College Fund

The United Negro College Fund (UNCF) administers a number of specific individual scholarships. Each scholarship has its own requirements. In general, UNCF scholarships are available to African American seniors planning on attending an one of many accredited colleges and universities. Programs include a general UNCF scholarship available to students attending UNCF member institutions, a number of NAACP sponsored scholarships, and a number of corporate sponsored scholarships and programs created by companies like T-Mobile, Cisco, Hershey Corporation, and Google.
